ABOUT CAROLE ALEXIS | CHOREOGRAPHER
Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres Carole Alexis was honored with the 2023 Artist Award by ArtsWestchester. A student of Maurice Béjart, Alexis’ choreographic work is rooted in classical ballet training and tradition while drawing upon influences as disparate as children’s games, island rituals, natural phenomena, and modern urban life.

SCHEDULE & SPECIAL OFFERS
10 performances, with all seats reserved with most priced at $35 for Adults and $25 for Children, with a limited number of premium seats at $50, plus applicable fees. Opening Night is Saturday, December 16 at 7pm, and a limited number of VIP | Waltz of the Flowers packages are being offered at $100, plus applicable fees, which include premier seating, an exclusive post-show themed reception with an opportunity for photos with dancers and goodie bags with a Nutcracker Dream T-shirt, an ornament and other special gifts. On Sunday, December 17 at 2pm, there will be a special children’s performancecalled Land of Sweets | Sugar Plum Fairy And Cavalier Reception for all, including special treats and an opportunity to meet the dancers after the performance. From December 26-29th there will be matinee (2pm) and early evening (5pm) performances.

CALL FOR AUDITIONS
Boys and girls aged 10-17, with 3+ years of ballet or modern dance training, are invited to audition for children’s roles, a unique opportunity to perform with a professional dance company’s dancers and acclaimed choreographer.  Auditions will be held Saturday, October 21 @ 8:30am – 1:30pm and Sunday, October 22 @ 11:30am – 3:30pm at the Emelin Theatre, 153 Library Lane in Mamaroneck. ABOUT CAROLE ALEXIS | CHOREOGRAPHER
Carole Alexis is a choreographer, producer, dance educator and the founding director (2011) of the Carole Alexis Ballet Theatre/Ballet des Amériques, who has won numerous awards: in 2021, Carole Alexis was named Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture; in 2023, she was honored with the Artist Award by ArtsWestchester. A student of Maurice Béjart, Alexis’ choreographic work is rooted in classical ballet training and tradition while drawing upon influences as disparate as children’s games, island rituals, natural phenomena, and modern urban life.  Alexis proclaims, “My interest in creating Nutcracker Dream is to bring families and friends together around the essence of what the story represents – namely, the beautiful balance between Marie’s childhood playfulness and her coming of age in the midst of her own circle of family and friends.”

Visions of Sugar Plums are dancing in your head and into downtown White Plains this Holiday Season. Nutcracker Dream is a beautiful interpretation of the beloved holiday classic and has delighted audiences young and old with its artistry and storytelling. Inspired by the work of Marius Petipa and Rudolf Nureyev, Nutcracker Dream is a one-hour and 15 minutes family-friendly adaptation of the seasonal favorite, created by world-renowned choreographer Carole Alexis, and performed by Westchester’s premier ballet company Carole Alexis Ballet Theatre / Ballet des Amériques. Alexis’ interest in creating Nutcracker Dream is to bring families and friends together around the essence of what the story represents, namely the beautiful balance between Marie’s childhood playfulness and her coming of age in the midst of her own circle of family and friends. Gather your kin for this unique, intimate holiday experience starting Friday, December 23, 2022.

Professional dancers from the company perform the featured roles of the ballet, while additional roles include young dancers from across the area. Nutcracker Dream premiered in 2018 and staged for two seasons at the Emelin Theatre and during a subsequent company tour overseas. The last two seasons took place at the Wainwright House in Rye, which again quickly sold out and prompted the production to be brought to downtown White Plains. The intimate performances will take place at KOI Creative Event Space at 169 Mamaroneck Avenue on the second floor above Lilly’s, a restaurant reminiscent of the great Victorian “gin palaces” that thrived in industrial cities of England and Northern Ireland. Lilly’s will be host to a unique Sugarplum Holiday Tea experience at 4pm each day during the week of performances except Tuesday. Lilly’s and its sister restaurant Hudson Grille also will be offering a complimentary drink to Nutcracker Dream ticket holders during the entirety of the performance run.

Event producer and former White Plains BID Executive Director Brittany Brandwein said “Carole Alexis Ballet Theatre/ Ballet des Amériques has brought quality artistry and worldly experience to downtown White Plains, a city ripe for the flourishing of cultural attractions. Opening Night of Nutcracker Dream is Friday, December 23, 2022 @ 7pm. General admission tickets are $30, with children 10 yrs. and under at $20. There are also tickets at $75 for the evening that include an opening night reception with light bites at Hudson Grille, at street level below the show.
