On Saturday, September 30th at 5:00 pm, Webster United Methodist Church invites you to a Welcome Neighbor STL Drive Thru dinner to support immigrant and refugee families in St. Louis.

These meals present an opportunity for immigrant and refugee families to share knowledge and skills unique to them. It is also an opportunity for us to get a glimpse into their culture. These fundraising efforts can set them on a path of greater independence and confidence in their lives here in the USA.

Drive up to pick up your to go dinner on Saturday, September 30th from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pmat Webster United Methodist Church, 600 N. Bompart Ave. Webster Groves, MO 63119.

Edge on the Square presents Under the Same Sun: Reimagining the Edges of Chinatown, its second annual contemporary art festival, to celebrate the enduring radiance of San Francisco Chinatown. As constant as the sun, are the residents, community members, organizations who continue to rise, persist and shine in the face of adversity. The past year has yielded moments of darkness; extending from the war in Ukraine to polarized rulings by the US Supreme Court impacting Americans’ freedoms, civil rights and liberties. The overturning of Roe vs Wade, affirmative action, and support of discriminatory policies are poignant reminders that the critical work for social justice and equity are continuous and ongoing.

Further within these tempos, the festival meditates on the voices, histories, and footnotes that contribute to the resilient luminosity of Chinatown, both sunlit and shaded: in the silhouetted crevices of multigenerational households, the afterglow of revolutions, and in the life and labor of all who identify with Chinatown as a landing spot of diverse togetherness. At Edge on the Square, we ask how we can crystallize illumination into revelation, potent regeneration into progress, and healing transformation of harms and burns into collective power?

The one-day festival brings together over 20 Asian American and BIPOC artists and their multimedia artworks, installations, activations and performances to reflect on contemporary issues, questions and concerns relating to individual and collective freedoms, identities, and civil liberties. Along with cultural partners, arts organizations, and community residents – the coalition of voices amplify unity and solidarity within multi and cross-cultural experiences and histories. Under the same sun, from the center to the ‘edges’ of Chinatown and beyond, we glisten with the resilience of the past, tenacity of now, and earned optimism for a future powered by collective action, persistent courage, and wise hope.

Black ‘Verse Metaverse Community is hosting our first Black ‘Verse Summit.

The theme for our first summit is the ‘POWER OF DECENTRALIZATION”. It will be a virtual community get together to remember. We will hone in on the blockchain, Web3 and the Metaverse as we progress towards a decentralized future.

We will be present in various Metaverse communities and streaming those that are not browser based.

Updates will be provided August 15th when the call for speakers closes.

This is the First Annual Black ‘Verse Summit as we head into the Metaverse. The event will feature many of our Metaverse community members and thought leaders. The Black ‘Verse Summit is an event that will include interactive community engagement, METAVERSE style. Our speakers will present their favorite metaverse experiences and talk about why its important to embrace decentralization as we head into the future. We will work not only to provide insights, but also to provide potential solutions to address issues from both thought leaders and enthusiasts.

Speakers will showcase use cases, share in experiences and tips, and most of all educate how the Metaverse will serve as a key component in all of our decentralized futures. It will also be an excellent networking event for all, we will offer the opportunity to network and engage with business owners from around the globe.
