Naruto is a Japanese manga series created by Masashi Kishimoto that was first published in the Shonen Jump magazine on October 10, 1999. It has been serialized into many tankōbon volumes, with the first 43 chapters collected in 75 volumes. The story follows Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who constantly searches for recognition and dreams of becoming Hokage, the leader of Konohagakure. The manga is licensed for an English language release by Viz Media and has been adapted into an animated television series produced by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex.
